On May 30, 2002, Riverside Highland Water Company, through
the Colton Joint unified School
District's "Partners In Education" Program, adopted Grand
Terrace Elementary School.
This is the second "adoption" for RHWCo. In 1992, when
the program first began, we adopted Terrace View Elementary
School. The water company offers such activities to the
students as tours of the EPA Superfund Site, water quality
testing laboratories, and water treatment facilities. Each
May, RHWCo sponsors a Water Awareness Poster contest, giving
plaques to the first and second place winners in each grade
level and a $100.00 US Saving Bond to the Grand Prize winner.
Company personnel also spend time in each classroom discussing
such matters as water conservation and employment preparation.
Students also ride along to observe the meter reading and
quality testing process while another group of students
visits the Corporate office to observe the computerized
billing procedure and to hear a little about the long history
of the company. Riverside Highland Water Company is looking
forward to a long and successful relationship with their
second "adoption".
